A few web page tips & tricks:
Image backgrounds: As you know, the background of the main content of pages on this site is white, andon some pages, a content block on the left portion of the page is a light bluish color. If you want to drop a new graphic logo or image (for your race) which has a background that does not match the background where you are putting it, here is an easy fix (no Photoshop): Use Word to create a blank web page. Then under Page Layout (Word 2007), change the page color to make it easy to see the background of the image yo will insert. Then, under Insert, click Picture, and insert your picture. Then, click the Format tool. Over on teh left, you will see six options. Click Recolor, go down and click Select Background Color. Then, move the pointer-mouse to a part which is the background of the picture you just inserted. You will see that the background of your picture matches the page background. (Dot worry just what the background color is now). Then, save it (in web page format). After you saved it, look for the folder that goes with the web page file yo have just saved This will end with "_files" in this folder will be various images. One of these will be a GIF image with the transparent background you want. (I used this method for the old Zoo run image on the About page.) Use the Titan CMS image uploader. Note: it is likely that your image will only display right if you choose Original Size. I've found that choosing Small, Medium or Large caused a loss of the transparent background (for me, the background became black.)
Some sources of images yo might like to add to a web page could come from pdf versions of back issues of The Strider, or from archived pages form earlier renditions of the web site. See www.archive.org.
Tips for adding a link to a page: The Titan CMS directions tell you how to add links to pages both within the web site and external pages. An exception to this rule is when you want to add a link to a forum on the Graffiti Board. (Graffiti Board pages will not appear in Internal Page under Titan Link Manager) (For example, the link for the forum for the Ice Age Trail 50 would be http://www.badgerlandstriders.org/GraffitiBoard/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=2) In such a case, choose External Page, uncheck "Open in new window," and insert the part of the URL including the first slash mark (in the said example, such would be /GraffitiBoard/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=2).
As for adding Facebook "Like" links," you can try it. (Read up on Facebook for Web Sites) I've found that a Like link thing for a page in a web site (in this case, a Facebook like link for a page in the BLS web site is not the same as a like link for the Facebood Badgerland Striders group or community pages. Here is where you will have to ask the Facbook people if you want a page to work with Facebook the way you want it to.
